FEAST OF THE ASCENSION

The Festa della Sensa (Feast of the Ascension) is a typical city festival celebrated on the day of the Ascension of Christ (Sensa in Venetian). This event recalls and relives the thousand-year history of the Serenissima and the practice of Venetian rowing.
The water procession formed by rowing boats, with the 'Serenissima' at the head, recognisable and visible thanks to the golden banks on which the mayor and city authorities take their places and from where the suggestive launching of a symbolic ring takes place, starts from St Mark's and arrives at Lido di Venezia.
A magical and unique ritual that can only be seen here in Venice, don't miss it!
